****Good for Animals, Good for Land, Good for Farmer, Good for You****
This is the moto of Echo Valley Farms, created by the Breen family, a first generation farmers in the Goomburra Valley, South East Queensland. The are caring their 300 acre of land to produce healthy products, developing a multi species integrated farming system that includes a range of enterprises such as cattle, sheep, poultry, pigs, hay/grain and seasonal small cropping.

I had the opportunity to meet Randal and Juanita during my stay in Australia in february 2018. In this video, Randal explains how animals take care of the land in holistic succession.

/ Philippe Baret is an agricultural engineer specialized in tropical crops. Professor at the Université de Louvain and dean of the Faculty of bioengineers, he developed different research programmes on genetic diversity, bioinformatics and agroecology. Field work with farmers in Africa (Burkina Faso, Kivu, Burundi, Rwanda) and in Belgium was very influential on his career. He is convinced that new models of agriculture are the key of a transition of our food systems. To explore these new models, he proposed a new approach based on the analysis of the lock-ins in the agricultural and food systems and on the identification of the pathways of transition within the diversity of the extant farming systems.

He co-funded the Groupe interdisciplinaire de recherches en agroecologie, GIRAF and was expert for EFSA and the Belgian Biosafety Council. Philippe Baret is president of the NGO SOS Faim. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx

Soil Guardians is a web serie which dives into the universe of innovative Canadian farmers who regenerate the health of their soils.

About the farm in the video :

Jocelyn Michon, a field crop farmer in the Sainte-Hyacinthe region of Quebec, is a pioneer of no-till and direct seeding agriculture. Thirty plus years of no-till and twenty five years of no soil disturbance have created a rich, fertile soil that gives higher than average yields with far less inputs.
